How to Adjust Fonts on a Computer

Install new fonts or switch between fonts easily with operating system applets.

Adjusting the fonts present on your computer means adding or removing new fonts to suit your tastes. This is a process for which the designers of your operating system planned, as there is a built-in option to modify the fonts on your OS without undue hassle. This will provide you with the freedom to make your computing experience your own. The entire process will take 10 to 30 minutes.

Items you will need

  • Disk containing new fonts (if adding fonts)

Add Fonts

Step 1

Click on the "Start" menu and press the "Run" button.

Step 2

Type in "%windir%\fonts" and press "Enter."

Step 3

Open the "File" menu and select the option to "Install New Font."

Step 4

Click on the location of the disk containing the font(s) from the menu that appears.

Step 5

Select the font(s) to be added from the list that appears.

Step 6

Click the box next to "Copy Fonts to Fonts Folder" and press "OK."

Remove Fonts

Step 1

Click on the "Start" menu and press the "Run" button.

Step 2

Type in "%windir%\fonts" and press "Enter."

Step 3

Click on the font(s) to be removed and select "Delete" from the "File" menu.

Step 4

Press "Yes" to confirm the deletion.
