Improve your blog using links.

The secret to being a successful blogger is providing interesting content and attracting plenty of visitors. Links improve content by providing your readers easy access to other intriguing websites. Exchanging links with blog directories or websites with a similar theme to your blog can boost traffic. Most blogging platforms, such as WordPress and Blogger, include a hyperlink button that creates links from highlighted text. You can also insert links directly into the code by editing the HTML.

Preparing to Make a Blog Link

Step 1

Go to your blog and log in.

Step 2

Choose the option to create a new blog post.

Step 3

Enter a title and write the blog article.

Step 4

Open a new window or tab in your Web browser and go to the website to which you want to link.

Step 5

Highlight the entire Web address in the top of the web browser and press "Ctrl-C" to copy it to the computer clipboard.

Creating a Blog Link Using the Hyperlink Button

Step 1

Go to your blog post and highlight the text you want to turn into a link.

Step 2

Locate the hyperlink button in the menu bar and click it to open a pop-up window. In WordPress the hyperlink button icon is a chain link, and in Blogger it is a chain link over a globe.

Step 3

Enter the URL in the pop-up window. Click to insert the cursor and then press "Ctrl-V" to paste the Web address. The URL should appear like this: http://www.myweblink.com

Step 4

Click "OK" to create the link. The linked text will turn blue and be underlined.

Creating a Blog Link Using the HTML Editor

Step 1

Go to your blog post and click the HTML tab to view the blog code.

Step 2

Highlight the text to link, and click the link button to open a pop-up window. WordPress simply uses the word "link" as the button in the HTML editor. Blogger's link button is still a chain link over a globe.

Step 3

Insert the URL web address from the clipboard by pressing "Ctrl-V." The HTML editor will automatically write the code to create the link. The link code will resemble this: Click Here!

Tips

  • Readers can easily return to your blog if you configure links to open in a new window. Use the following HTML code as a template: Click Here!
