How to Make Calculations on an iPad
by Julius Vandersteen, Demand MediaApple's iPad tablet computer lets you read books, listen to music, watch movies and browse the Internet. However, unlike its smaller cousin the iPod Touch, the iPad does not include a built-in calculator application. If you want to make calculations on an iPad, download a free calculator app from the App Store and install it on your iPad.
Step 1
Touch the App Store icon on your iPad's screen to open Apple's App Store if your iPad is wirelessly connected to the Internet. Otherwise, use the included USB cable to connect your iPad to a computer, then launch iTunes.
Step 2
Navigate to and select a free calculator app such as Calulator, PCalc Lite Calculator or Calculator for iPad Free (see Resources).
Step 3
Touch "Install" to download the calculator app directly to your iPad over the Internet. If your iPad is connected to your computer, click "Free App" in iTunes to download it to your library, then drag and drop it onto your iPad.
Step 4
Touch the icon for the calculator app on your iPad to launch it. The app will display virtual buttons representing the calculator's numbers and function keys. Tap numbers to enter them into the calculator app, then tap the function buttons for multiplication, subtraction, percentage and other calculations.
Tips
- Access the App Store by creating a free Apple ID (see Resources).
