How to Register a Domain Name for .Asia

by Jamie Lisse, Demand Media

The .Asia domain name extension is available for companies that want to target the Asia-Pacific and Pan-Asia region. ICANN, which stands for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, defines this region as Australia, Asia and the Pacific region. According to the Dot Asia Organization, the .Asia domain name extension has been available to the general public since early 2008. While not all domain registrars offer .Asia domains, buying a domain name with the .Asia extension is easy.

Step 1

Go to the Dot Asia Organization website to find a domain registrar. Not all domain registrars are .Asia accredited registrars.

Step 2

Scroll down and click on "List of .ASIA Accredited Registrars" on the right side of the screen. This will take you to the list of registrars you can use.

Step 3

Select a registrar from the list and go to their website. The website address is listed by each registrar on the list.

Step 4

Type in the domain name you want to buy on the registrar page you selected. Be sure to select ".Asia" as your extension. Click "Search" to see if your desired domain is available.

Step 5

Pay for your domain if it is available. Some registrars take PayPal while others accept only credit cards.
