How to Set Up Email on Windows 7 With Armstrong ISP
by Craig Sernotti, Demand Media
Manage Armstrong email through a Web-based interface or a desktop client.
When you sign up for Internet service from Armstrong, you receive a free email account. You can use this as your main account to manage all of your messages or as a separate account to keep in touch with specific people, such as family members or business contacts. Your Armstrong email is accessed through a Web-based account. If you prefer to manage your email on a desktop client, you can access email without going to a website. Microsoft provides a free desktop client for Windows 7 computers called Windows Live Mail that manages email accounts.
Step 1
Click the Windows orb in your task bar. This is a circle containing the Windows logo. Click "All Programs," and then click "Windows Live Mail."
Step 2
Click the "Accounts" tab at the top of the program, and then click the "Email" button. The "Add Your Email Accounts" window opens.
Step 3
Enter your Armstrong email address and password in the appropriate fields. Also enter the name you want to appear on all outgoing messages. Click the "Next" button at the bottom of the window to continue.
Step 4
Click the "Finish" button to confirm the addition of the email address. A window opens asking you to re-enter your login details. Enter your Armstrong email address and password in the appropriate fields and then click the "OK" button. Your messages download into Windows Live Mail.
Tips
- Download and install the free Windows Live Essentials 2011 package from Microsoft (explore.live.com). You can also download and install Mozilla Thunderbird, another free email client, as well as Microsoft Outlook, which as of June 2011 costs $140.
